In 1935, Father Henry L. Mackin brought Scouting to Saint Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church.   In the Scouting Movement, Father Mackin saw the values that he wanted to instill in the young men of the Parish, and in its program, he saw a way to teach those values:

Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly,

Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful,

Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent

The Mackin Society is a group of scouters and friends of Scouting who share the same values as Father Mackin. Troop 25 asks each active scout to pay $2 a week in troop dues.  Members of the Mackin Society have pledged to continue paying their “weekly dues” with an annual minimum pledge of $100.  This commitment will help continue the tradition of Troop 25 at St. Vincent’s.

The Father Henry L. Mackin Award is presented annually at the Troop Dinner Dance to recognize commitment and service to Scouting and youth.
